This 1/18th scale Aston Martin V12 DB7 Vantage and the V12 Engine and transmission model were very special gifts from a Ford Executive to my father. The Ford Exec worked with the Ford/Cosworth team that built the V12 for the DB7 Vantage. In celebration of their new V12 engine, they made this very limited-edition display. My dad had it on a shelf in his office. This engineering marvel was a significant step forward for the company, and a quick Google search will bring up several videos and articles about it. This 2000 DB7 Vantage was one of the true supercars of the day. The restyled DB7 features coachwork penned by noted designer Ian Callum and was introduced at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. Made by Maisto in Thailand. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MODEL. The manufacturers of the new V12 motor commissioned this model to commemorate the partnership of Ford/Cosworth/Aston Martin and their development of this historic and significant engine. There are no markings on the engine display to signify who built it. The V12 commemorative model is a Limited-Edition, and this one is number 31. A button on the back side of the case plays the incredible sound of the V12 powerhouse engine as it accelerates through its gears. The plaque on the front of this unique and rare display says. This new for 1999 Aston Martin engine and transmission is Aston Martin’s first ever V12 power unit. It develops 420 bp and 400lbs/ft of torque and enables the DB7 Vantage to reach 60 mph in less than 5 seconds and exceed 180 mph. The Real Life Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Aston Martin’s First V12 Engine. In 1999, the more powerful DB7 V12 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. Its 5.9-litre, 48-valve, Aston Martin V12 engine had a power output of 426 PS (313 kW; 420 hp) and 400 lb? Ft (542 N? M) of torque. It had a compression ratio of 10.3:1. Two transmission choices were available: a TREMEC T-56 six-speed manual or a ZF 5HP30 five-speed automatic. Aston Martin, with their slippery styling and V12 power, claimed a top speed of 186 mph with the manual gearbox, 165 mph with the automatic gearbox, and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The V12 Vantage is 184.7 inches long, 72.0 inches wide, and 48.9 inches high, weighing 3,968.3 lbs. Aesthetic differences from the straight-6 DB7 include different wing mirrors and large fog lamps under the headlamps, along with “DB7 Vantage” badging at the rear. The engine and its display case are in excellent condition. The Maisto Aston Martin DB7 Vantage 1/18th Model is in excellent condition. The boxes that store these items are in an acceptable, but rough condition. These items look great out of their boxes.
